From March 24–25, 2025, WRAPA convened a pivotal Electoral Reform Partner In-Person Meeting in Abuja, with support from the MacArthur Foundation. The two-day engagement brought together key stakeholders to advance Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) in Nigeria’s electoral process.
The meeting focused on reinforcing strategies that promote fair representation for women and marginalized groups, ensuring that electoral reforms are not just inclusive in design but impactful in practice.
Key Outcomes from the Meeting:
-
Validation of Awareness Messages & Jingles: Partners reviewed and approved public sensitization materials tailored for electoral reform campaigns.
-
Strategic Planning: Concrete action plans were developed for rallies, town halls, and roadshows to be implemented across 12 states.
-
Strengthened Partnerships: Deeper collaboration was forged with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) and Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa, reinforcing joint policy advocacy efforts.
With enhanced collaboration and clearly defined next steps, WRAPA and its partners are geared to amplify citizen engagement and advocate for an electoral system that truly represents all Nigerians, especially women and other marginalized voices.
The work continues, towards a more inclusive democracy.
